When I think of A & K’s wedding at the stunning Portmarnock Hotel and Jameson Golf Links, one word comes to mind – joy. Pure, unfiltered, heart–filling joy. As a Portmarnock Hotel wedding photographer Dublin, I get to see a lot of beautiful moments, but this one was special.
It was one of those perfect summer evenings where the sky feels endless, the sea breeze is gentle, and everyone seems a little more alive. A & K’s Irish–Scottish wedding was full of life, colour, and connection. From the groomsmen in kilts (yes, more kilts please!) to the sound of the bagpipes announcing their entrance to dinner, this day had personality in every detail.
Why Choose Portmarnock Hotel for Your Wedding?
A Wedding Filled with Real Moments
A & K are the kind of couple that remind me why I love natural wedding photography. They weren’t about stiff, over–posed images – they wanted to be with their guests, laughing, talking, and enjoying every second. They understood that their wedding day wasn’t about creating a production; it was about the people, the moments, and the feeling.
The outdoor ceremony was bathed in gorgeous afternoon light, with family and friends from all over Ireland and Scotland (and beyond!) gathered to celebrate. The groomsmen in their kilts added such character, and the beautiful singing harpist in the background made it feel like something out of a movie.
During the reception, the energy was infectious. Music filled the air, people danced before the first dance even started, and the joy was tangible. When the bagpipe player led them into dinner, you could feel the pride and heritage woven into the day.
Capturing the Day
I took a mix of group shots and plenty of candids – the real smiles. And when that sunset hit, we stole away to the beach for a few quiet moments. The light, the laughter, and the love between them made those images something truly special.
When the first dance finished, the dancefloor never emptied. Laughter, music, and the kind of good times you wish you could bottle up and keep forever filled the night.
