Located in Balrath, County Meath, Ballymagarvey Village is a beautiful historic estate with over 800 years of history. Just a short journey from Dublin, it's a popular choice for couples looking for a romantic countryside wedding venue without travelling too far from the city.
One of the things that makes Ballymagarvey so unique is the variety of spaces available throughout the venue.
Couples can choose between an indoor ceremony in the beautiful Mill Loft or an outdoor ceremony in Gwenllian's Garden. The Mill Loft, with its exposed beams, stone walls and historic character, is particularly lovely for couples looking for something atmospheric and intimate. Meanwhile, Gwenllian's Garden offers a gorgeous outdoor setting surrounded by greenery.
The venue also has its stunning Manor House, Victorian walled garden, courtyard and Banqueting Hall, giving couples plenty of options throughout their wedding day.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Ballymagarvey Village is that there's so much variety without needing to travel anywhere.
The grounds are full of beautiful little pockets that work brilliantly for wedding photographs. The stone architecture, courtyard, gardens and surrounding countryside all offer something different.
The Mill pond and surrounding historic buildings provide gorgeous backdrops for relaxed couple portraits, while the gardens are perfect for a wander together and a few photographs away from the hustle and bustle.
And then there's the Manor House and reception spaces, which offer plenty of opportunities for capturing all the excitement of the day.
But here's the thing: you don't need to spend hours taking photographs to make the most of a venue like Ballymagarvey.
I much prefer to let the day unfold naturally, making use of what's around us as we go. A little wander around the grounds, a few minutes together, a bit of fresh air and some photographs that actually feel like you.
No awkward posing marathons required!
My Approach to Ballymagarvey Village Wedding Photography
If there's one thing I want couples to know about my approach to wedding photography, it's that I'm not there to take over your wedding day.
Your wedding isn't a photoshoot. It's a day to spend with your favourite people, have a brilliant time, get married and enjoy every bit of the madness that comes with it.
My style is relaxed, natural and documentary-led. I love capturing weddings as they actually happen, from the big emotional moments to the little in-between moments you might not even realise are happening.
Think genuine laughs, happy tears, big hugs, questionable dance moves, your friends absolutely losing it on the dancefloor and all the little interactions that make your wedding uniquely yours.
I'm not going to have you standing around posing for hours or constantly interrupt what's happening to get another photograph.
I'll give you a little direction when needed, particularly when it comes to couple portraits, but otherwise I want you to relax, enjoy yourselves and forget there's even a camera around.
For me, the best wedding photographs are the ones that bring you straight back to how the day actually felt.
And that's exactly what I want to give you.
Making Time for Couple Photos Without Missing Your Wedding
Ballymagarvey Village is one of those venues where you really don't have to go far to find somewhere beautiful for photographs.
I usually recommend taking a little bit of time together during the day for some relaxed couple portraits. It doesn't need to be a big production. Even 15–20 minutes can be plenty.
We'll have a wander around the grounds, make use of the gorgeous surroundings and capture some photographs of the two of you enjoying a little breather.
I'll keep things moving naturally, giving you enough guidance to feel comfortable without making anything feel forced.
And if the light is particularly lovely later in the evening, we might sneak out for another few minutes. Golden hour photographs at Ballymagarvey can be absolutely gorgeous.
The important thing is that you don't spend your wedding day worrying about photographs. I'll make sure we get what we need without taking you away from the fun for too long.
The Craic, The People and The Party
Let's be honest, the best parts of a wedding aren't always the perfectly planned ones.
They're the moments when your friends are crying laughing during the speeches, your family are giving you the biggest hugs, someone has had one too many glasses of prosecco and the dancefloor is absolutely hopping.

Another lovely feature of Ballymagarvey Village is that it offers on-site accommodation for couples and their guests.
The venue has 42 bedrooms across the Manor House and its additional accommodation buildings, with space for up to 84 overnight guests.
This makes it particularly appealing for couples who want to turn their wedding into more of a full celebration, with family and friends staying together rather than everyone rushing home at the end of the night.
The Banqueting Hall can accommodate wedding receptions of up to 220 guests, while smaller celebrations can also make use of the Conservatory Library, subject to the venue's arrangements.
It's a lovely combination of historic charm, beautiful surroundings and practical spaces that make the whole wedding experience feel special.
