Getting Married at Glasson Lakehouse, Westmeath
If you're looking for a wedding venue in Westmeath with beautiful countryside, lake views and a relaxed, luxurious feel, Glasson Lakehouse is definitely worth having on your list.
Set on the shores of Lough Ree in the village of Glasson, just 15 minutes from Athlone, Glasson Lakehouse is surrounded by 225 acres of beautiful grounds. The long avenue lined with mature beech trees makes a pretty impressive entrance, and once you're there you've got the lake, gardens, golf course and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.
Weddings at Glasson Lakehouse
Glasson Lakehouse is particularly suited to larger weddings, catering for between 150 and 250 guests, with a minimum of 120 adults during January, February and November. The venue is also licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can have your ceremony and reception all in the one place.
The Reid Suite is the main wedding reception space, with floor-to-ceiling windows, natural light, views towards the lake and access to an outdoor terrace. It's a really lovely space for a wedding because you get those beautiful views without having to rely on the Irish weather behaving itself!
And if you're planning a whole wedding weekend rather than just one day, Glasson works really well for that too. There are 70 bedrooms, including lake-view rooms and suites, as well as cabins, and guests can make use of the hotel's leisure facilities and activities during their stay. Golf, boat trips, kayaking and cycling are all available around the resort.
Glasson Lakehouse wedding photography
From a photography point of view, there is loads to work with here.
The lake, trees, gardens and surrounding countryside give us plenty of options for photographs, while the hotel itself gives us somewhere beautiful to head inside if the weather decides to do what Irish weather does best.
My approach to wedding photography is relaxed and documentary. I'm not going to drag you away from your guests for hours or make you pose for photographs all day.
I'll give you a bit of direction when you need it, especially for your couple photographs and family photos, but most of the time I'm photographing what's actually happening.
The hugs. The laughs. Your friends losing the plot on the dance floor. Your parents getting emotional. The little moments you didn't even realise were happening.
That's the stuff I want you to remember.
We'll make the most of the grounds and the lake for your couple photographs, but I'll keep it relaxed and relatively quick. You should be spending your wedding day celebrating with the people you love, not wondering when your photographer is finally going to let you go back to the bar. 😂
And don't worry if it's raining. Some of my favourite wedding photographs happen on those very Irish grey days, and Glasson has plenty of beautiful indoor spaces to work with too.
Your wedding isn't a photoshoot.
It's your wedding. My job is to photograph it beautifully without taking you away from it.
If you're planning a Glasson Lakehouse wedding and want wedding photographs that feel natural, relaxed, colourful and full of the actual people and moments that made your day yours, I'd love to hear from you.
